How to fundraise like a champ?

Fundraising tips

Every runner is expected to raise a minimum of €200 (€100 for minors and students under 25) through their RUN TO KICK fundraising page.

Ask for donations

You can share the link to your own page, your team's or your tribe’s page to solicit donations. If your supporter chooses to make a donation on your team's or tribe’s page, the donation will automatically be equally split between the team members who are registered at the moment of the donation.

You can do it!

You really want to participate in RUN TO KICK but are afraid of never succeeding to fundraise €200? This page is written for you!

Getting started with fundraising is not as difficult as it seems. For those of you who are afraid of asking your friends and family to donate, we've gathered our best advice to help you get started.

Messages to ask for donations:

Rule #1: Remember that you are not asking for money but for a donation… and you are doing this because you want to help finance research to cure children with cancer. It is not because you want to buy a jacuzzi.

Rule #2: Equally important. Tell you friends and family that ANY amount donated will make you super happy.

Rule #3: You have to follow the RULES

A successful request follows a specific approach that we are about to share with you:

  • Send a personal message (Hello *Jack*).
  • Choose a moment where your prospective donor is least likely to be busy (for young parents: avoid the evening bath time, for grandparents: shoot before their favourite TV show begins)
  • Do not forget to include two key points in your message:
    • A donation of €40 or more will entitle your donor to a tax reduction of 30% of their donation.
    • The urgency: "donate me now because it takes less than 2 minutes! (than it’s gone from your to-do list)"

Daring to go public on social media

If you post your page on social media, don’t hesitate to specifically mention how much funds you still want to raise to achieve your goal. People love challenges!

DIY hack

If you are really too embarrassed to ask for donations, take the indirect creative road.

A couple of examples:

  • When you organise a dinner: tell your friends to donate on your page instead of bringing a bottle of wine.
  • If you are a great cook (or not, but keep that to yourself), bake cakes and sell them to your neighbours or school parents, etc.
  • Make your friends’ life easier by proposing to get you a birthday gift you truly long for: a donation on your page.
  • Sell DIY props (bracelets, candles...) to your neighbours’ neighbours.
  • Organise a garage or a dressing sale to finance your page.
  • Offer your services to wash a car or mow the lawn for someone you know.

Ha and do involve your kids in this endeavour: who on earth would ever refuse such an important plea from your little angel?

You can do this, we believe in you!

Donation & Tax Reduction

If you want to support a runner, look for their name on the top of our page with our search engine. Once on their page, click on “I donate”. If you don’t find them, ask to send you the link to their page.

You can also decide to support a whole team or a tribe at once. In that case, your donation will automatically be equally split between the team or tribe members who are registered at the time of your donation.

Your name, first name and email address will be communicated to the runner, the team captain or the creator of the tribe, depending on the type of page you have supported.

Your first name will appear on the page benefitting from your donation. If you do not agree, click on “Make my donation anonymous”.

Thanks to our generous partners, 100% of the donations are used to finance research projects which aim at finding innovative treatments, improving existing ones and kicking children’s cancer to send it far, far away forever and may it never come back!

We have chosen reliable and experienced partners (Raise&Shine and Stripe) for your donations and the registration of your personal information. Your data is safe and handled in confidence.

For every donation of €40 or more over the course of a whole tax year (2026), every Belgium based donor will receive a tax certificate that will entitle him or her to a tax reduction equal to 30% of the donated amount. Make sure your prospect donors know about this!

Every donor will receive an electronic tax certificate at the email address provided at the time of donation, during the first quarter of 2027. This certificate will be issued by the King Baudouin Foundation, which manages your donations through the KickCancer Fund (paired with the KickCancer Foundation).
