Little kick. Big hopes.

Cancer touches lives in profound ways. Through my daily work at AbbVie, I'm lucky to see firsthand the incredible progress that science and dedicated research can achieve. But also, how much further we have to go—especially when it comes to pediatric cancer.

Childhood cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease for children over the age of 1. Because pediatric cancers are unique and rare, research is significantly underfunded globally compared to adult oncology. Initiatives like #KickCancer are incredibly vital to support the specific, innovative research these young patients desperately need.

This is why I'll be taking on this 10K run with my 3-year-old daughter — just 5 months after welcoming our son. Together, we run to fund the science because every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy.

Le cancer bouleverse profondément les vies. Grâce à mon travail, j'ai la chance de voir le progrès incroyable que la science et la recherche peuvent accomplir. Mais je vois aussi tout le chemin qu'il nous reste à parcourir, particulièrement en ce qui concerne le cancer pédiatrique.

Le cancer pédiatrique reste la principale cause de décès par maladie chez les enfants de plus d'un an. Parce que les cancers pédiatriques sont uniques et rares, la recherche est considérablement sous-financée à l'échelle mondiale par rapport à l'oncologie pour adultes. Des initiatives comme #KickCancer sont d'une importance vitale pour soutenir la recherche spécifique et innovante dont ces jeunes patients ont désespérément besoin.

C'est pourquoi je vais participer à cette course de 10 km avec ma fille de 3 ans — 5 mois après avoir accueilli notre fils. Ensemble, nous courons pour financer la science, car chaque enfant mérite d'avoir la chance de grandir en bonne santé.

Kanker raakt levens. In mijn dagelijkse job heb ik het geluk om de ongelooflijke vooruitgang te zien die wetenschap en onderzoek kunnen bereiken. Maar ik zie ook hoeveel verder we nog moeten gaan — vooral als het gaat om kinderkanker.

Kinderkanker blijft de belangrijkste doodsoorzaak door ziekte bij kinderen ouder dan 1 jaar. Omdat kinderkankers uniek en zeldzaam zijn, is het onderzoek wereldwijd aanzienlijk ondergefinancierd in vergelijking met oncologie voor volwassenen. Initiatieven zoals #KickCancer zijn van levensbelang om innovatief onderzoek te ondersteunen dat deze jonge patiënten zo wanhopig hard nodig hebben.

Daarom trek ik mijn loopschoenen aan om deze 10 km uitdaging aan te gaan samen met mijn 3-jarige dochter — 5 maanden na de geboorte van onze zoon. Want elk kind verdient de kans om gezond op te groeien.
